It’s All About The Glass

Peter Karbe, Leica Department Manager Development Optics

The Leica Story continues today with a conversation with Peter Karbe who is the Department Manager Development Optics.  Michael interviewed Peter some years ago, and I recently had the chance to sit down with Peter and pick up where Michael left off.

Peter has been with Leica for 30 plus years.  That’s a long time and also a long track record of making some of the best glass the photography world has.  Peter is all about perfection.  To hear him describe how lenses are designed as well as how they are meant to be used speaks volumes.

This video says a lot about the design of Leica lenses for all the cameras that Leica manufactures.  It also says a lot about the passion and dedication of those that are responsible for the design and making the lenses.

Please enjoy this video with Peter Karbe.

Photography is my passion and has been for 45 plus years. My career in photography has allowed me to travel the world, meet some of the most interesting people on the planet and see things I could never have dreamed of. My goal is to share the passion of pictures taking through photographs and teaching with as many people as I can hoping it brings them as much joy and happiness as it has me. I do this through Rockhopper Workshops and other projects as well as teaching at my Gallery in Indianapolis.
