Putting It All Together
Today we take a peek behind the scenes and visit the manufacturing area of Leica. This is an area not usually shared by Leica or any other company. Heading up this area of Leica is Svetomir “Tommy” Stankovic – Director Of Manufacturing Operations. Leica is not a mass production operation, and there is a lot of hand assembly done by many talented and committed individuals.
Tommy shares what it takes to get products out the door. Leica has a team of 200 people in manufacturing. The majority of the team are women as they are usually better with the dexterity needed to do assembly with small parts. There are some women at Leica who have worked in this area for 30 plus years.
