Are you an experienced landscape and nature photographer looking to enhance your photographic vision? Would you like to work closely for a few days with a small group of like-minded artists? Would you enjoy photographing at a measured pace in one of North America’s most beautiful fall colour locations?

Spend a long-weekend this Fall working withMichael Reichmann, one of the world’s leading landscape photographers and photographic educators. Limited to just 9 people, this master-class will take place in north-central Ontario — about a 3 hours drive from Toronto. Shooting locations will includeAlgonquin Park,The Torrance Barrens, andHardy Lake nature reserve.

TheMuskokaregion andAlgonquin Parkare located on the pre-Cambrian shield, the earth’s 2 billion year-old bedrock. It is a pristine land of lakes and forests, and in early-October fall colour may be in its full splendor. All-inclusive accommodation will be for two nights at theAlgonquin Lakeside Innjust outside of the park, and an additional two nights at the luxuryCranberry Marsh Covein Muskoka. Additional sessions will take place at Michael’s nearby country home.

This will be an intensive one-on-one workshop. The main focus will be onseeing,compositionand theestheticsof fine-art landscape photography rather than equipment or technique. Workshop members will bring their portfolios for review, critique and roundtable discussions.

Here’s the draft itinerary…

Friday, October 1

Arrive atToronto International Airportno later than 2pm. The drive to Algonquin Park and theAlgonquin Lakeside Inntakes approximately 3 hours. All ground transportation will be provided. We will be using three SUVs.

Welcome dinner and roundtable discussion.

Saturday, October 2

Sunrise to sunset — photography in Algonquin Park — driving and hiking explorations.

Dinner followed by a print evaluation and discussion.

Sunday, October 3

Sunrise to sunset — photography in Algonquin Park — driving and hiking explorations.

Evening — Drive to Muskoka, approximately 1.5 hours. Dinner, and accommodation atCranberry Marsh Cove.

Monday, October 4

Morning:Hardey Lake nature reserve. A pristine small lake surrounded by forest. An easy 1Km hike.

Afternoon:Torrance Barrens— similar to the moors of Scotland. An easy 2 Km hike.

Evening:A reception and roundtable discussion at Michael’s nearby country home

Tuesday, October 5

Return home . Attendees will be returned to Toronto International Airport by noon.

Attendance by Invitation

Experienced landscape and nature photographers are invited to apply for this workshop / master-class. There are only 9 places available. The intention is to bring together a small group of experienced photographers who wish to share their passion for photography. Because this master-class is intended for photographers who will be focusing their time on expanding their seeing and image making, and on peer-level discussion, admission will be based on an evaluation by Michael Reichmann of each applicant’s photographic background, capabilities and a small portfolio.

This is not a workshop about equipment. It isn’t a workshop about technique. It’s about theartof photography and the ability tosee. In addition to each photographer’s individual work in the field the intention will be to share ideas, perspective and attitudes with like-minded photographers. Michael Reichmann and noted photographic instructor Steve Kossack, as well award-winning film director Chris Sanderson, will be your guides and mentors.

Cost

The cost of thisall-inclusiveworkshop / seminar is U.S. $1,695 per person. This fee includes local ground transportation and hotel accommodation for 4 nights (double occupancy), as well as all meals, snacks, drinks and alcoholic beverages. TheCranberry Marsh Coveis a luxury resort hotel. There are no additional costs.

Accommodations are two person to a room. If you prefer a private room there will be a supplementary charge of U.S. $200 — if available.

Payment of the full fee is required to confirm your reservation. If you need to cancel for any reason there will be a full refund (less U.S. $100), butonlyif a replacement for you can be found. If we have to cancel the trip for any reason you will receive a full refund.

Video Filming

On this workshop we will joined byChris Sandersonwho will be filming the workshop forThe Luminous Landscape Video Journal.

Naturally, we will need your consent to be filmed. Once you have registered for the Workshop we will be sending you a Release Form. This will signify your permission to be included in the filming that will be done during the workshop. We will, of course, be providing you with complimentary copies of whatever video or print material comes out of this. Of course this will provide you with a professional quality video record of this trip, something that no other workshop can provide.

Finally, I want to assure you that the filming of the workshop will in no way interfere with the workshop and the time that we spend together. Chris is an experienced filmmaker and will be shooting in an unobtrusive documentary style. Of course, as an experienced cinematographer and director Chris will be available as another resource person to all Workshop members. If you have problem with being filmed during the workshop please ask me for more information, or consider taking an alternative workshop.

As there is always an element of risk in any adventure associated with the outdoors, participants must read this form carefully. This liability release will certify that the participant is physically fit and capable of participating in outdoor photography exercises in field locations, and is fully and completely aware of any associated risks created by field locations and weather.
