Since its launch in June 1999 theLuminous Landscapehas grown to become one of the Net’s most popular photography sites. Though by no means the busiest, it likely is the largest and most comprehensive non-commercial site on the Internet devoted to the art, techniques and technology of photography.

I collect and analyze site statistics for several reasons. One is strictly technical; I need to know usage patterns and monitor growth so that the server on which this site operates can be configured properly to meet demand. Secondly, by knowing where readers are from, what computer and operating systems they use, and what their interests and preferences are I am better able to provide appropriate content and system performance. Thirdly, the general web stat information may be of interest to other site operators who lack comprehensive statistics gathering capability of their own. Finally, knowing this stuff is just plain interesting. Through this summary page I hope to share some of this information with those who may find it of interest.
