The worlds largest land predator, the Polar Bear is actually a marine mammal that spends the majority of its life on the frozen sea ice. Living in some of the world’s most remote and inhospitable regions the Polar bear can weigh up to seven hundred kilograms and during lean times it can go without food for up to six months. With the ability to spread its bulk and weight across its massive paws it is capable of walking on ice that would be far too thin to support a human being. It is one Nature’s greatest feats of engineering.
